Delightful Tuscan country lodgings with charming panoramic vista, olive grove and woodland.
Recently restored and beautifully decorated, this stone farmhouse and detached barn enjoy a panoramic vista of the Tuscan/Umbrian countryside and over to the historical medieval hilltop towns of Lippiano, Monterchi and Monte Santa Maria Tiberina.
This traditional Tuscan farmhouse property of some 35 hectares, mostly woodland and olive groves is positioned on the side of a mountain some 500m above sea level. Overlooking a beautiful Umbrian wooded valley there are many country trails to follow for a little exercise with a view! You may or may not encounter itinerant wild-boar, deer, foxes, porcupines, hares, hawks, eagles and other assorted creatures.
The vista even from the swimming pool is charming. The pool has a diving board and a terrace paved in stone and decked with sun umbrellas and loungers, along with additional outdoor table.
While the property has a charming rural location, historical medieval hilltop towns such as Monterchi and Anghiari are just a 10 and 15 minute drive away, respectively. Monterchi houses the amazing Madonna del Parto fresco and Anghiari was the scene of the war between the warrior Pope Julius (victorious) and the Duke of Milan. Both host a number of excellent restaurants offering quality local specialty dishes at affordable prices. In close vicinity, also the birthplaces of Michelangelo and Piero della Francesca…..the area is a medieval treasure ground.
Elvira is a world class concert violinist and strings music tuition is available for guests staying at the property, rates to be agreed with Elvira and Michael . All musicians are welcomed and practice rooms can be provided on request. There are concerts during the summer, including Elviras’ annual concerts held in Citerna, Sansepolcro and also in Citta di Castello.
The property is ideally suited to couples exploring this fascinating region together. Both the cottage and the farmhouse apartment enjoy spacious kitchen/dining areas affording ample opportunity for communal dining and yet they also offer the privacy of separate accommodations.
While both the cottage and the apartment have been restored fully respecting the traditional architecture, they offer all the modern comforts including microwave, dishwasher, washing machine & tumble drier, iron/board and central heating. Your hosts provide internet access for checking mail, there is also a good internet café in Anghiari.
Il Mandorlo [sleeps 2-3]
The main entrance to the cottage is on the ground floor with a comfortable double bedroom to your right and beautifully appointed bathroom with large shower to the left. A stone staircase leads to the upper level that features a fully equipped open plan kitchen/dining along with lounge area. The sofa divan easily transforms into an additional bed. Step out from the light and airy kitchen onto the tiled patio where you may enjoy meals ‘al fresco’ under the almond tree.
Il Felcino [sleeps 2-4]
This spacious and tastefully furnished apartment in the main farmhouse enjoys an independent entrance that leads to the large lounge with comfortable sofas. The master bedroom and beautiful bathroom lead off from the lounge. Just a few steps to the fully equipped kitchen with dining table, from which one can access the optional additional bedroom also with en suite.
The Rates
The cottage and apartment are generally rented on a weekly basis but may subject to availability be rented on a daily basis for a minimum of 3 nights.

Additional rate for second bedroom with en suite bathroom in Il Felcino is EUR 275 per week.
The weekly rates are inclusive of power, gas, central heating, linen and weekly cleaning.
