This historical stone fortress has been fully restored with respect for the original features and yet the 5 fully self contained apartments offer all the modern comforts including satellite TV and air conditioning. In addition to the spacious terraces boasting amazing views over the valley the property has private off street parking, BBQ facilities and gardens.
Martina's offers a number of on site services and activities with many more in the vicinity. In the Autumn months it is even possible for guests to participate hands on in the harvesting of the grapes or the olives.
The apartments host one alternatively two bedrooms with sofa/divans in each meaning the property can accommodate up to 28 guests in total. The historical cellars are also available to larger groups alternatively catered meals may be enjoyed on the terraces. Many of the original features have been preserved and the furnishings are in the traditional Tuscan style.
The property is ideally suited to Wedding Receptions for 30 or more guests with additional accommodation easily arranged at other properties in the vicinity. Martina and her partners also run a Catering business that specializes in catered Wedding Receptions. The convenience of Pisa airport just an hour away is a bonus for guests flying in for the event, especially from the UK with regular and low cost flights from most airports.
The tiny town of Buriano near the Fortress dates back to the Roman Empire and the Church of San Michele evidences also a Longobard presence in the area during the 6th and 7th Centuries.
Il GIARDINIERE (sleeps 2 - 4)
A comfortable 1 bedroom apartment within the spacious independent cottage across the forecourt of the Rocca. Entrance into the living room with Satellite TV & sofa/divan and full kitchen facilities. The apartment has a double bedroom and bathroom with shower. Around the corner is a small garden area also for guests enjoyment in addition to the large, panoramic terraces. An interconnecting door leads to another apartment with a second double bedroom.
LA SENTINELLA (sleeps 4 - 6)
A charming 2 bedroom cottage, completely independent from the main structure featuring a private garden, 2 kitchens, 2 well appointed bathrooms and a double sofa/divan. The cottage may alternatively be rented as two separate 1 bedroom units, each fully self contained. Easy access to the stone terraces with outdoor tables and spectacular views over the Valley.
LE COLLINE (sleeps 4 - 6)
Housed on two levels within the Fortress itself, the ground floor hosts a double bedroom plus a small sitting room with an optional double sofa/divan. The second floor features another double bedroom, bathroom and the kitchen/living room. Charming outlook over the picturesque Montalbano Hills.
SERVICES and ACTIVITIES
A range of catering options is offered from buffet breakfasts for large groups to simple BBQ�s or 4 course meals featuring typical local dishes and wines.
It is also possible to arrange for wine tastings accompanied by a variety of local cheeses and salumi (cured ham, salami, finocchiona etc) in the ancient cellar and all products are available to purchase.
Tuscan cooking classes may also be conducted for Fortress guests
Guided tours of farms and vineyards in the area may easily be arranged

At close hand there are many tracks in the woods of the Montalbano Hills, that lead to important and characteristic places such as Vinci, Carmignano and Artimino. These tracks can be used for trekking or mountain-bike excursions or horse riding. We can see to the mountain bike rental or we can organize the guided horse riding excursions.
Thermal baths and spas are located in Montecatini Terme, 20 minutes away, and offer a special discount for our guests.
